Programme overview

The HarbourMate Mediterranean POC Programme ran across Italy, Spain and Albania — ten deployment sites covering the full range of leisure marina typologies, from compact inshore facilities handling light marine boats to full-service yacht clubs equipped for megayachts.

The programme’s objective was not commercial validation but technical validation: does the HarbourMate platform perform consistently across radically different harbour layouts, operational cultures and guest profiles?

Scope and methodology

Each POC deployed Phase 1 (Digital Map) and Phase 2 (Berthing Guide — SkipperLink). Deployment timelines ranged from 7 to 14 days depending on harbour complexity and the availability of existing planimetric documentation. No site required modifications to existing IT infrastructure — whether managed by the harbour’s own team or by an external superyacht support agency.

KPI tracking was consistent across all sites: staff interaction volume, berthing times, SkipperLink open rates, and guest NPS where measurable. Each party operated independently; no cross-site data was shared with other players in the ecosystem.

Cross-country findings

Operational impact was consistent regardless of country, harbour size, or vessel type. The primary variable was staff adoption speed: marinas with a designated digital-operations contact person reached full operational deployment faster. The platform’s multilingual capability — auto-detecting the browser language of the guest — proved particularly relevant in mixed-nationality marinas along the Spanish and Albanian coast.

The SkipperLink format performed identically for a 7-metre day-sailor and a 50-metre superyacht: the underlying data model accommodates any berth geometry and any vessel class. Depth, clearance and approach vector are berth-specific, not vessel-class-specific.

Current status

All 10+ POC sites remain active. Several have progressed to Phase 3 discussions. The programme continues to accept new marinas on a selective basis — priority given to sites that can provide structured KPI feedback for platform improvement.
